Etsy Pick of the Week - Joyoustreasures

This bookmark from Joyoustreasures is so cute! If you love to read, it is the perfect accessory. It can fit a 12 inch book or smaller, so you can use it to accent your summer reading or jazz up a textbook that is otherwise just plain boring. It pulls tight so it's less likely to get lost than one you just tuck in - it's practical AND beautiful! This should be on the "want" list for summer readers.

4 days left of the craziness

Four days until my brother's open house. The cleaning frenzy is still going, although the tension has abated. I think my mom had a good day yesterday.

I have this spiffy idea for bracelets, but I can't seem to find the right materials. I'm thinking about starting another lariat necklace. I really liked how the other one turned out!

Speaking of which, my prototype orange and red lariat necklace is on sale for only $45 dollars due to a slight glitch with the crimp beads which is hardly noticeable. If you want a fabulous necklace like this for a good price now is the time!

Newsprint for windows

I heard there was something in newsprint that makes windows shiny. So in preparation of my brother's open house, I used newspaper to wash the windows.
A word of advice: Use the newspaper to dry the windows. Don't soak the newspaper and use it as the rag, unless you want your hands to look like this.
The windows were very shiny, by the way!

Showcase! YEAH!

Welcome if you've come from my spot in the jewelry showcase! I hope you enjoyed checking out my shop. I've got some sweet new ideas for bracelets and necklaces that I'm just waiting to try out.

In other news, I went to a job fair this morning and had a preliminary interview. It was at a local agency. I think it went well. But a LOT of people were interviewing, so we shall see! I'm guessing that if they like me I'll get a second interview, and go from there.

What a WEEK!

Between 2 weddings, the first of 3 open houses, and a minor depressive episode, last week was not one of my better weeks. Sorry to disappear off the face of the earth. Also, I'm taking a break from my Etsy Pick of the Week this week, as I was unable to find the time to find one.

My cousin and a young man from my church are all off and married now (not to each other) and now hopefully I can get back to everyday life. The extra-good part of this is that the crystal that my cousin used in her wedding and belongs to my grandma is now available for me to decide what I want to use for my wedding. Pictures soon!

Things should be returning to some kind of normal pretty quickly. I did what I was supposed to and filled out a job application to somewhere I'd really like to work. They are having a job fair on Wednesday, so I am pretty hopeful! Until then, I'll probably spend time hanging with the fiance, beading, and ogling hair sticks and shampoo bars online.

Yes yes I know!

So sorry I didn't keep my word and update! Things have been kinda crazy. Between unexpected road trips and a day of wedding planning, I've had some pretty busy days!

Nick and I got the reception hall layout all figured out. He spent a lot of time running around with a tape measure and doing calculations - definitely his type of thing.

As for now, I am exhausted... I'll make a point to write more tomorrow.

Etsy Pick of the Week - Skye Jewelry

I found this bracelet in the sale section in Skye Jewelry's shop.
I absolutely love the combination of the silver with those gorgeous aqua Swarovski crystal rounds. The light nature and gorgeous sparkle of this bracelet would make it a sweet summer accessory.
The really great thing is that Skye Jewelry is having a Memorial Weekend sale, so this is in the sale section! It may be worth checking out.

Changes... already!

This blog needs 2 things - a little bit more frequent updating and some sweet pictures. For instance, today I helped a friend sew a cover for her dog's bed. I was quite proud of the fact that I did the sewing, it looked reasonably nice, and I didn't get the thread all tangled in the machine - not even once!

That being said, I am going to my cousin's wedding this weekend, so I probably won't post tomorrow. Next Monday I"ll start updating every day with the awesomeness that is me and any fun stuff I find to share.

See you then!

The Attack of the Trees

I have some pretty bad springtime allergies. Needless to say, I've been cooped up inside recently, hiding from the oak pollen. Yesterday I finally went stir-crazy and went on a bike ride with my fiance.

It is GORGEOUS outside right now. Trees are turning green, birds are singing, flowers are blooming. I should have brought my camera.

I feel so much better now. It was definitely worth it. My itchy eyes will have to deal.

PS. Check it out! I'm on Twitter now. Fun for all!

Etsy Pick of the Week - Aspire by Aspiranti

Check out these "barefoot sandals" by Aspire by Aspiranti. I don't think I've seen anything quite like these before. I love them! They would go great with a cute sundress in a grassy park, the beach, or wherever else you might go barefoot.

You can find these ones and more at aspirebyaspiranti.etsy.com. She also has some more traditional pieces if you are more interested in necklaces and earrings.

Necklace In Progress

This is a picture of the necklace I am working on. The wires will all be covered in beads when I am finished. The four strings wrap around and tuck through the hoop. I'm excited to see what it's like when it's finished!

I'm going to start a regular posting schedule of Monday-Wednesday-Friday, probably in the afternoons. Check back tomorrow for my Etsy Pick of the Week!

Up and running!

The shop is now up and running. Time to celebrate! WHOO HOO! Time for a grand opening sale! Pricing is low. Shipping is free.

I've been happily working on my jewelry. 3 things up! I've got a new wrap-around necklace I'm working on - red and orange, glass and metal beads. It's gonna be gorgeous! I hope to get that up soon.
